Mixed Emotions

Mixed Emotions is a music performance class by audition or invitation only. Students work on vocal technique, stage movement and performance skills. If you are interested in auditioning for Mixed Emotions please call the administrative office to schedule an appointment. We recommend that students in this class also take private voice lessons with an RTW instructor.Note:Each student who registers for this class must commit to memorizing his/her music and choreography, as well as to attending each scheduled class/rehearsal/event.

Creative Dramatics: Treasure Trunk Tales


Ages: 4 – 7 l Tuition: $175 l Time: 4:00 – 5:00 PM
Session I: Mondays, October 19 – December 7, 2015 
Session II: Mondays, February 1 – March 28, 2016 

Each week students will open a magical treasure trunk to discover something mysterious and exciting, which will inspire each to work together to create wonderful, imaginative stories! Students will be continually inspired in their dramatic role-playing and story creations.

Musical Theatre I 


Ages: 8 - 10 l Tuition: $200 l Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Dates: Saturdays, October 3, 2015 – November 7, 2015 

Whatever their prior experience, young actors will develop/fine-tune their musical theatre skills as they audition for, rehearse and perform in the musical Dinomoton. Dinomotion is the story of a group of young students who, under the expert guidance of Professor Fossil (a paleontologist) and Professor Rockbottom (a geologist), search the Badlands of South Dakota for the remains of dinosaurs. Notes:Each student who registers for this class must commit to memorizing his/her lines, blocking, choreography and music, as well as to attending each scheduled event.

Acting Master Class


Ages: 11 - 17 l Tuition: $400 l Time: 4:30 – 5:50 PM
Session I: Thursdays, October 1, 2015 – November 12, 2015
Session II: Thursdays, January 14, 2016 – March 10, 2016

Students will be introduced to the acting methods of various renowned theatre teachers/directors including Stanislavsky, Meisner and Hagen. Through scene and monologue work, students will learn to apply each of the methods he/she learns in class. This is a great opportunity for young actors to develop/cultivate their acting skills.

During Session II of the Acting Master Class, students will continue to apply the skills they learned during Session I, as they work on a (non-musical) play production. Play TBD. Musical Theatre II 


Ages: 11 - 17 l Tuition: $200 l Time: 4:30 – 5:50 PM
Dates: Thursdays, March 31, 2016 – June 9, 2016

Students will apply the acting techniques they learned during Acting Master Class to a musical production. Please note that Acting Master Class (Sessions I and II) is a prerequisite class for students registering for Musical Theatre II. Students will apply the acting techniques they learned during Acting Fundamentals to a musical production. Small Musical Production: TBD. Notes:Each student who registers for this class must commit to memorizing his/her lines, blocking, choreography and music, as well as to attending each scheduled event.

Sight Reading for Singers 


Ages: 10 - 15 l Tuition: $175 l Time: 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Dates: Mondays, October 19, 2015 – December 7, 2015 

An introduction to music reading and understanding for young musicians who primarily sing. Students will learn note names, rhythm values and time signatures, as well as basic rhythmic sight-reading.

Singing for Musical Theater: A Workshop for Students


Ages: 12 - 18 l Tuition: $150 l Time: 4:00 – 6:00 PM
Dates: Fridays, October 2, 2015 – November 13, 2015

This class explores the development of styles of musical theater singing including legit, belt, and mixed belt. Students will make a range of sounds in a vocally healthy way, gain a vocabulary to discuss musical theater singing, workshop repertoire in class and hone performance techniques.
